Tailen is best described as rather unimpressive and even plain when it comes to physical descriptions, literally, as he hardly stands out from crowds due to both his height and stature as a human.
He is rather lanky and hardly packs any muscle to his mediocre frame, though, there are some small signs of athleticism to him from over the years. While he certainly doesn't have the physicality of a warrior or soldier, he can carry himself with a light sense of stride when seen out in public.
Still a young man he's at an age where he has at least one or two growth spurts left within him, at least, before he finally bears the appearance of a full-grown adult. Tailen stands at a height of five feet and ten inches with deep chestnut brown hair, and blue eyes that reflect the color of steel on a moonlight night.
Though he certainly doesn't go out of his way to appear outstanding, Tailen is always rather friendly and approachable toward other people. Always bearing some sort of a smile that could put a giant at ease, he often speaks with a tone of kindness and consideration to all he meets.
He may not be very fit or athletic, but the boy is light on his feet and deft with his hands, granting him the potential to be a versatile fighter or crafty hunter. Having been brought up in the fringes of the North, Tailen is prone to wear layered clothing and protective gear.
The sort of equipment that allows him to remain light on his feet, but still provide warmth and protection from the colder elements that plague Karnor. There are times when he might wear lighter or lesser clothing, but only whenever the conditions are favorable for his peach-toned skin to withstand the northern chill.
Overall he tends to keep himself clean and bathe regularly, with his hair only slightly trimmed to a mid-short length, and the scent of cedar wood often carried with him wherever he goes.

Personality
He is rather quite protective of his friends and family, and though he has the patience of a saint most of the time, his tolerance can become tested in the presence of rudeness and cowardice. Tailen is rather direct and very honest with those around him, taking everyone's words with sincerity and seriousness. Often times this makes him a very bad liar due to how severe it clashes with his honest morals.
Beneath the calm and caring persona that he always possesses, there is a dormant passion for justice and hope for the world. A yearning for peace for his home and the people he cares about. However when faced with the conflict of others challenging such ideals, that deep drive can spur a rise out of him that can sometimes remain uncontrollable. This can lead to Tailen becoming cold and even terrifying to a degree, as the violent nature he keeps buried within will sometimes rise to the surface.
Tailen is without a doubt guided by his convictions overall, often with a curious mindset that leads him to question the world around him.

History
Origins
Nested in the hills and valleys on the eastern outskirts of the Crystal Forest, Tailen was born in the small hamlet that rests on the bend of a river between hills. Hanz Villa became the home where he was to be raised, with a loving and supportive family of two brothers and two sisters.
The village itself wasn't without its share of hardships either, being a small, close-knit community that typically has had to fend for itself much of the time. Over the past few years, those hardships have severely tested the community, nearly pushing the villagers themselves to the brink. In these difficult times, a fated event is doomed to tear Tailen's family apart...
Childhood
Tailen was born the fourth child in a family of five, with two older brothers and an older sister to look up to for guidance. Though far too early for him to remember specifically, Tailen's father left at an early point in his life for reasons his family would never disclose. His mother would often dismiss questions of the matter with short answers, suggesting that their father was somewhere out adventuring in the world, perhaps.
That didn't stop his mother and siblings from raising him to be a good and helpful boy in the village, teaching him the traditional values that helped build a sense of community among the other villagers. Though lacking any formal education, his family did pass on many of the important lessons shared in their history, including lineages from the past to historical events commonly known throughout the world.
Ultimately, the upbringing filled Tailen's head with a sense of yearning and adventure, propelling him to curiosity with a learned and kind approach. Growing up under the tutelage of his siblings, however, Tailen learned to be more than just kind and considerate to the world around him. He learned how to be observant and analytical, to empathize and relate to others he connects with. This allowed Tai to see the ever-shifting dynamics that existed between him and his family, from his eager elder siblings helping teach and raise him, to the younger sister he also had to help look after as the years went by.
Teens
After he reached a point in his life to handle more responsibility, Tailen adopted a more involved role in the community that helped raise him. Handling simple tasks and doing easy labor around the village garnered a favorable reputation with his family, although that didn't stop the tensions that were soon to rise when his fifteenth birthday finally came around.
By that age, all three of his older siblings had been given their first Rune of personal magic. It had been a right of tradition for his family by that point, even if their father was no longer around; therefore, the eldest brother, Shaden, had taken it upon himself to carry it out. The resulting exposure to the Rune of Semblance had nearly led Tailen to a state of pure blindness, until his ancestral bloodline awakened within him to overcome the threshold sickness that threatened to take his vision.
Gaining the power of Semblance unlocked a familial trait his older siblings also shared, causing any of the Runes they gain to manifest in their eyes upon attainment. Realizing the awkwardness Tailen had in gaining his first Rune, the mother of the siblings grew furious with the elder children. She had already forbade them from introducing the younger ones to magic, and after realizing what they had done with Tailen, their mother ostracized the eldest son for the actions he committed that day.
This led to a troublesome fallout between the mother and Shaden, who eventually decided it best to leave both family and village behind to go out on his own. This tension bled into the rest of the family dynamic, with an underlying resentment found between the mother and two remaining elder siblings. Naturally, Tailen strived to remedy the strain his initiation created between the family members, working twice as hard to be as kind and uplifting as possible.
He wanted to prove that despite the odds and circumstances he faced, he was not only resilient and brave, but also confident that he could handle the repercussions of such an initiation. While his actions didn't really do much to lift the mother's spirit, his eagerness bled into the involvement with his community, only further increasing his reputation as a kind and loving individual.
By his sixteenth birthday, Tailen begged and pleaded with his other brother, Byron, in secret. Even against the protests of his siblings Byron and Camilla, Tai insisted that he be given one more opportunity to prove himself. After consistent prodding in secret, his elder siblings finally caved in to his requests, with Byron granting Tailen the Rune of Kinetics several months before his seventeenth birthday. While his mother does not yet know that he possesses such power, Tailen has been keen to keep that from her to this day, ensuring that his siblings would no longer be reprimanded on his behalf.

Like his younger sibling, Byron does not tend to stand out so much from a crowd, though he isn't often interested in doing so anyway. As he stands rather broader and taller than the sibling that follows him around, Byron often bears the more stern and impassive looks compared to Tailen. Some would even consider him confident at times, although, with a steady demeanor, Byron is usually patient to deter such notions.
With oaken brown hair, he tends to keep it short or mid-length, and he is prone to sometimes comb or even style it for certain circumstances. Byron isn't built like an ox but he has developed a well-sculpted physic, mostly from his teenage days spent hunting and learning to survive in the wilderness. The hardened gaze of his steel blue eyes is prone to observe and learn, as it can sometimes be difficult to gauge what is on the older sibling's mind at times. Though, he is often blunt and upfront when it comes to speaking his mind, in a rather calm and even casual tone of voice.
As a typical hunter within the North, Byron tends to favor warm and even layered clothes, so he is seen now and then wearing furs and leathers wherever he goes.
Personality
Byron tends to be more of a solitary type compared to his brother, whereas Tailen empathizes with others, Byron prefers to remain guarded and reserved when it comes to his feelings. And while he may possess similar morals to what his younger brother coaches, Byron is admittedly more open to seeing the world in grayer shades than Tailen does.
Some may think he has a chip on his shoulder that he carries around, however, Byron is only simplistic in that he loves and supports his family above all else. He is a rather curious individual who can be just as determined as his younger brother, Tailen, almost at a scholarly level, but only enough to push him to explore the facets of his curiosity.
That can sometimes strain their relationship enough to get quite competitive and push things to extremes, but of course, Byron is always responsible enough to admit when he's wrong or falls short. Stubbornness being a shared quality between the brothers, he has an inner passion that only few in the world ever get to see; as Byron is the sort of person who learns to trust gradually over time.
