Grandmastery: Vitalis (Paragon / Pharaoh)

Is this a skill that defines the character? Is it something that you can imagine them without?
Yes, it defines him. Hector was designed from the start to have Vitalis and would be without purpose if he didn't have it. He is a character fascinated with magic, pain, body horror, creation and destruction. That in mind, Vitalis working in tandem with his other skills is the very foundation of the character.
How often do they use the skill? If it is something used infrequently, it is likely not a candidate for Grandmaster.
There is rarely a thread where he doesn't use it. I always tend to throw a little bit in unless he legitimately can't without great consequence. He's impulsive, so he still will even it its not the greatest idea, usually utilizing subtler aspects or parts of his quirks that allow him to explain it away as part of his Summoning.
What efforts has the character put into developing their own perspective and unique approach to using the skill? What is their trademark use of it?
Hector's trademark uses of it are his Master quirks. His blood-metal and the ability to fuel his magic through pain are things I've used in tandem to make his uses of the Rune fun and unique.
Is this a skill that others immediately attribute to the character? If not, consider fostering a reputation involving its use.
Yes. I'd be surprised if that weren't the case.
How have you used the skill in your writing to impact not just your own character but others?
Yes. While Hector is a selfish, chaotic person, I've still used it to help other people by giving them small boons or using it in combat to solve problems.
Examples:
Vitalis working w/ Imogen to catch a hydra
