Areya was on an easier assignment, if such a thing truly existed down here in the Warrens. She was in one of the more secured areas, known as the Drums, after these strange rock formations scattered throughout that did rather look like drums sitting there. She, and many other conscripts, were posted through the area, idle sentries for the most part. They were just here to hold, and aid, anyone who came through here. Areya was leaning against the cool, stone wall, her eyes scanning the many passageway entrances she'd been assigned to keep tabs on. If anything came through, deal with it, call for aid if needed. The rest of the unit she was in were equally scattered around the large, open cavern.
Drammond was over on the far side, playing with some mosses growing there. The man had been a chef back in the topside and was obsessed with finding out what was edible and what wasn't. His experiments often ended with violent noises coming from his shit bucket in the later parts of the night, sounds that a person could never unhear. But still, the man continued to hold onto that one bit of his life before. Maybe he shouldn't have killed his cheating husband. Not that Areya could understand such emotion. She'd never managed to get a lover topside. For her kind, she was still young, a maiden truly. She never had a chance to fall in love or even chase whimsical crushes.
And if the gamblers down here were to be rewarded, she'd never get out to get the chance again. Torria walked over, leaning against the stone, staring way up at Areya, who was pointedly ignoring her, "Wutchya doin babe?" Areya's eyes never left the entrances she was watching, though she wished she could've rolled them in this moment. The human woman always got so easily distracted by other women. "What you should be doing."
Torria smiled broadly at the retort, "Why? You have all of the tunnels covered, I'm here if you need help. Unless you need a break, we can get Drammond over here to watch the tunnels, while you and me go... train."
This did get an eyeroll out of Areya, whose head lulled down to like at the short human woman, not saying anything, before casting them back on the tunnels. Torria laughed, turning to sit down against the wall, "One of these days, you'll get that stick out your ass." Then she smirked, "And I'll show you truly how to have fun with it."
As they sat there, watching and waiting, listening to Drammond groan as one of the mosses he ate was causing him some severe stomach cramps, various soldiers, adventurers, and fortune seekers strolled through. Some ignored them, others stopped to ask for directions or hints and tips. Torria talked to them all, she was the one who liked talking to people. Areya just kept watching the tunnel, idly listening to the Torria flirt with everyone who came through.
