Appearance
Even if its their first time meeting this tall, raven haired man, its obvious Shuai is a member of Kalzasi's nobility. It is not because he announces himself as one like others would out of custom (though proclamations aplenty of what he thinks himself to be, a hero of the generation) nor is it in the fine clothes he wears. It is simply a consequence of how he was brought up. Shuai does not look like he ever lacked since birth which shows in his physique and he even sounds different from the more common folk due to the education he has had.
Personality
As the third child, Shuai has had the chance to experience all the family had to offer without any expectation (although this is not uncommon for the house, the sons and daughters of the Chisuo of the recent generations had the tendency of pursuing whatever they fancied and it would somehow work out at least one of the children would step up to continue the efforts of the house in Kalzasi and, this generation was no different) which ended up with Shuai being the most outgoing and energetic of the lot; Shuai has been in a lot of trouble as a result as even his mouth does not seem to have a stop to it which was only a problem where the elders were concerned as he enjoyed a good scuffle. The solution which seemed effective thus far was to keep the man busy with what he cared about whether it be his martial arts, talisman making or an adventure (actually a trip out of town)
History
Unexpectedly it was his own father which set Shuai on the path he was on. Just like his older siblings, it was impressed on Shuai as soon as he reached the right age that the most important thing as a member of the house was neither political prowess, a head for business, his ability to do magic (although that certainly would not be disappointing) or whatever else he thought was the one thing to distinguish himself- it was his ability to fight. The nobles were no strangers to duels and in the worst case scenario it would be Shuai's honor to take on the mandatory service to the Sky Guard during a war, something a lot of citizens seem to forget while making use of whatever they resources or amenities in their home.
Whether that idea actually got through to Shuai or he wanted to please his father, he took up the sword wholeheartedly but whatever his initial motivations, he started to grow more enthused of the fight itself instead of the reasons for the fight or the outcome of. Though the attitude and mindset was frowned on by his father, the head of the house at the time, the counsel of the head's elders who were more concerned with a member of the house neglecting in their progress of both the necromancy and scrivening which had become a part of the Chisuo's identity convinced the man that dangling the carrot would be a better approach which led to Shuai getting even more encouragement in his martial arts training so long as he also reached some degree of capability in the world magics.
By the age of twelve Shuai had seen his share of fights although being the age he was (despite some opponents being older) and having good sense to not have advertised the fact he was a member of the house (if only to make sure none of his opponents would hold back for fear of retribution) it was treated as incidents of boys being boys which had even some of the guards commenting they would like to see how the boys would do in an official duel once they were older if their issues were that irreconcilable. When he neared the age of fifteen, Shuai took part in the year's Slayer’s Trials being sure that his large frame and beat up features would make his age a non issue as long as he said he was eighteen, or something.
While he was unsuccessful in joining a troupe he was able to find a new mentor who showed him a different path to becoming a better fighter; training him between contracts in personal magics to fight more effectively and better still, protect himself. The revelation that his scrivening could turn these skills into better tools also had Shuai revisit his instructions in the family's craft which, maybe made it easier for his family to remain in the dark to his extracurriculars.
Through a lot of effort, Shuai eventually became capable enough to join a troupe but becoming a little more smarter with his age had only joined one in unofficial capacity to both gain more experience and keep his family in the dark, unable to interfere with his aspirations. That said there is only so long that answering the question of why he still trained so much with wanting to have the option of joining the skyguard in the future could work until his family has too many questions which would catch him in a lapse.
