Gihah K'uvfoi'uv Fi'uv

Gihah K’uvfoi’uv Fi’uv marks the only pathway through the territory of the primal Vonaoid Kiod, sitting atop a tall ridge which demarcates the borders of the jungle and the hellish red mountain. For generations, the chieftains of Gihah K’uvfoi’uv Fi’uv have tended to the riverbed, imbuing it with the cool aether which keeps Vonaoid Kiod’s terrible firestorms from spreading past the ridge.
The residents of Gihah are reliant on the freshwater fish of the river, which they supplement with fruit from the jungles above the ridge and certain tubers abundant below. The fish are especially numerous in the lower rivers, where they have adapted to eat the algae which gathers around the occasional geothermal springs close to the mountain. The village’s major agricultural project consists of gardens for ginger and certain fruits, which are important for the particular blend of cider favored by Gihah for centuries.
Although the villagers can hunt and forage in the upper jungle with relative ease, it is dangerous to travel downstream on foot, as the trees and strange spawn of Vonaoid Kiod have adapted to encourage and even start fearsome blazes throughout the river delta and foot of the low mountain in which Vonaoid Kiod lairs. The fires, though fast and fearsome, are not especially hot and can be safely passed by remaining on the water.
To this end, the villagers of the Gihah often partner with small herds of capybara, which can quickly comb the areas near the riverbanks for tasty or useful plants, and easily escape to the nearest stream if a flash fire is set off. This is also why the villagers heavily favor the use of the Cardinal Rune of Animism to take on aquatic forms, which are useful for quick navigation of the region and necessary for defending Gihah’s holding lake, which would otherwise be a tempting hunting-ground for the caiman swarms which lurk downstream.
