The sort of rambling stream of thought with which Arvælyn spoke of his travels was kind of cute, in its own sort of way. This was partially due to the fact that the other had twisted it into something distinctly encouraging towards the Fæ at the end when he certainly did not have to. Warmed the heart, it did.
“You think? I do intend on going to Kaladon when I’ve the opportunity, but there are some things that must needs tending to here, I believe. Mostly regarding the political sandstorm I’ve somehow managed to wander into the midst of,” he spoke with a wry sort of laughter at the end.
Really, his entire role thus far was serendipitous and accidental. Such a thing was partially what had served to inspire him to better himself in that he wanted to actually have a more deliberate sway rather than feeling powerless entirely in these situations. That, and he wanted his role to have merit– thus far, he felt he had so very little.
“See? That is what I meant– when speaking of wasted time, there is time truly wasted versus time spent doing things of an alternate sort of focus. Personally, I don’t think time spent focused elsewhere is ever really a waste, especially because your fate was one most…unpredictable, no?” He offered this remark with a soft smile meant to be encouraging along with a warmth woven into his tone.
Regarding sentinels, the elven Fæ chuckled a bit. “Mmm, many are so very austere. I do find their regalia to be quite pretty, myself, though. They have their own intrigue about them…at least, to me, but the nature of the job makes Vigilia rather…difficult to socialize with.” When one’s job innately requires secrecy, it can cause rifts and walls in interpersonal relationships that otherwise would not exist. Such a thing can be damaging depending on the personalities of the individuals involved and often leads to people in careers of such a nature living rather solitary lives in terms of how many deep connections they possess, all social skills and other traits aside. As much as Æros did admire Sentinels, he could not say he envied them entirely.
