Too Much of a Good Thing [Solo]

In which a patient gets treated.

The Luxium represents the upper half and primary seat of the Solunarian Capital and one of the dual-cities that comprises Solunarium Proper. Situated between the foot of the volcanic Mount Sorokyn and the wide River Vasta, this above-ground metropolis boasts five thriving districts beneath the shadow of the glorious Palatium Furiarum (The Blazing Palace) from which the Solar Court rules in splendour. This bustling metropolis is by far the most populous region in the realm and, along with its shadowy sister-city the Umbrium, houses upwards of eighty percent of the Solunarian population at any given time. During the reign of a Solar Court, every major government agency in the kingdom is headquartered in the Luxium, with the notable exception of The Silver Sentinels, the covert intelligence agency run by the House of Phaedryn-Sol’Aværys.

They were still early in the season, so that meant that the worst of the heat of Searing wasn't completely behind them. What Hilana had found was becoming more of a concern was the number of peregrini that were visiting thanks to the introduction of the airships. Not in and of themselves, of course; she was a friendly creature and she enjoyed meeting new people. Some of her closest friends were foreigners that had proved themselves the equal of the harsh Atraxian environs, and she took great care to look after them while they were here. Shade, hydration, and creams to protect the skin from the relentless light of the sun were all necessary, because it took very little to get badly burned or suffer heatstroke.

The foreigners weren't Vastii or Re'hyaean, and they were unprepared for the intensity of the seasons. She had spent quite a bit of time blending and making protectants, and despite that, they still saw plenty of patients that had eschewed the ounce of prevention and now needed the pound of cure. She had whipped tallow until it was smooth and silky, and dried herbs had been powdered, weighed, and measured them before combining them into another mixing bowl. This way, all of the dry ingredients were blended before they got added to the tallow in order to make sure it was evenly distributed when she started mixing the two bowls together.

The bell over the door tinkled, and Hilana looked up from her spot behind the table. Tiaz was draped over her shoulders, and Lia resting on the driftwood perch by the window, sunning herself. Lia was helping a young man inside the door. "Hilana," she called. "I've got one for you. Some stranger from overseas... no idea as to his accent, but you can likely figure that out with Semblance. I think he has sun sickness."
