His face softened a bit at the words of the prince. "It was never my intention to make you feel used. It's just I dont know when I will have the opportunity to interact with someone of nobility or royalty. But you are correct, I will strive to do better in that regard." he noted, jotting done that note for himself later.

He smiled at the prince, his opalescent green eyes watering his cheeks with tears, causing a quick swipe of the hand when he noticed it himself. "Forgive me your highness. You truly don't know how much this means to me. To be able to converse with a prince of the realm, let alone of the Val'kor house. I've looked up to you and your family since I learned how to hold a sword. And I will not allow your words or advice to go on deaf ears." he added.

"It may not amount to much, but if you ever are in need of me I will be at your call." he offered, though they had just met and he doubted they would see each other anytime soon. He was fine with that, but the hope of being of service to his highness was something to look forward to. Not to mention this meeting would make him the envy of those in the Harbinger company for sure, but it would be something he would keep close to his chest and cherish.

"Though I wasn't able to spar with you I still appreciate the time and advice you have given me." he bowed to the prince for who knows how many times now since they started their conversation. He was still happy with how the day had gone, even though he was looking forward to crossing blades with the prince. He gained something far more valuable though and for that he was grateful.

“It is really no matter.” Rhydian replied blithely to the apologetic sentiments. If he felt used, it didn’t really seem to bother him. Maybe he was used to it or maybe he simply was as stoic as he presented publicly.

As to the expressions of profuse gratitude, he merely shook his head and waved a hand in blithe dismissal. To him it was a matter of noblesse oblige to lend aid to a humbler subject of their mighty king. Gratitude was unnecessary and thanks were unwarranted.

“Well.” Rhydian clasped his hands together before placing them at his sides and pushing himself to his feet.

“I’m afraid that will have to wait for another occasion, but I believe our time was better spent conferring on this matter. Sparrijg partners are, I think, easier to find than courtiers with expertise in etiquette on the level of a royal. If you do your due diligence I have little doubt you will improve.” Rhydian clasped his right hand around his left wrist behind his own back as he began to stalk at a leisurely pace toward the egress.

“I will keep an eye out for your name and observe your progress with interest if you should fall once more before my gaze.” He offered, pausing at the doorway when he’d reached it.

“I wish you good fortune in your exploits. Be mindful, be deferential and progress will come. Perhaps not apace, but in time and with work, come it shall.” He inclined his head in acknowledgement.

“Well met, Thimryl.” And, with that, Rhydian Val’Kor left the young soldier in the doorway and returned to the training room to collect his arms.

Heeding the prince's words he stood and gave a polite bow to the man as he rose and gave his final benediction to their meeting. Thimryl counted himself lucky and saw this as a motivation to help him live up to Rhydian's expectations. He was happy with all the information he was given and would put it to use and practice. He waited for the prince to venture from the training arena before turning his attention back to his training.

However, he couldn't focus on it, and he was too excited and eager to begin learning all he could about etiquette and the proper decorum when dealing with the affluent and powerful. He would strive to serve the best way he could. First things first, he could learn and get better, both in the martial sphere of his duty as a soldier and in the political. He couldn't allow the prince's word and faith that he could achieve these things go to waste. He would show that there was a reason he could be deemed worthy.

Putting his mind back to his training he finished out his drills and packed up for the evening. Some of the cabarets were going to be opening soon, and he would enjoy a night of relaxation before he would start his research and training. He knew that come the morning he would be dedicated to the goal he placed before himself. Once he was done going through his drills he packed up and set out for the barracks, given a shower and change of clothing he would enjoy the rest of his night before getting down to business.

I accidentally deleted this. Whups. But I remember this much...

I'm awarding 10 xp for non-magical skills.
