The Adventurers Association

The History of the Association
The Association began as a minor faction founded by a close-knit group of Atinorans during the 96th year of the Age of Steel, by adventurers and researchers who originally sought to provide benefits to the wandering souls of Atinaw. Little did they suspect that in the early stages of the Association's development, they would quickly develop into a guild that provided more than just food and rest to the region of Alizane.

The Association's development became a major playing field for Atinaw when the Empire led its march against the region's borders, serving as a hub of intelligence that funneled resources to those fighting on the frontlines, while also playing a minor background role in shepherding refugees from Ailos onto the mainland. However, as the campaign against the Empire carried on for five years, resources and manpower gradually declined within the Association.

Informants who were hunted down went deep into hiding, and thus, the Association eventually fell apart to protect those still impacted by the war. With nothing more than a reputation for the glory they brought to Atinaw, the Association's legacy remained but a memory in Alizane; that is, until recently, when a new location to serve as its hub opened further north.

The Guidelines of the Association

Tenets

Aid Your Fellow Adventurers
When you're out in the field, adventurers often have to weigh risk over reward with consideration, as there always exists the chance for things to go wrong on the job. Those within the Association are expected to not only look out for their fellow adventurers, but also help support new and upcoming members who are still fresh to the Association. Helping these adventurers learn the skills and knowledge they need to thrive will build a stronger community, which in turn, aids the goals of the Association as it seeks to provide for all its members, both novices and veterans.

Criminal Activity
As adventurers, the Association expects you to maintain a respectful disposition toward the world. How you conduct yourself as an adventurer is up to you; however, the Association will not condone acts deemed unlawful or violent toward the world around you. Treating your fellow adventurers and citizens with respect will carry you far, but doing something to better the world for them will take you even further.

Information Sourcing
Adventurers are a crucial source of information gathering when it comes to the world; they are more likely to visit places less frequented by scouts or researchers. As members, they are asked to share any insights or information they have gathered, whether a personal tip or a shared rumor on the road, for a representative to assess and determine whether it is valuable information to document for the Association. Sourcing this information helps create jobs for fellow adventurers, keeping the field of business open and plentiful with opportunities for adventurers throughout the region.

Memberships

Benefits
Joining the Association allows adventurers the chance to garner benefits from the guild, but it's through consistency and hard work that often improves these benefits. A satisfied customer from a job well done often sees the adventurer earning a fair commission for their involvement, based upon their rank, but naturally building upon said rank over time through dedicated completion of jobs.

Earning Memberships
Aspiring Adventurers interested in Memberships are given a fairly straightforward trial, a simple job that typically caters to their preferred talents, and are expected to conduct themselves promptly to see the job completed. Completion of that job will earn them a small reputation from the job provider, which in turn, grants them a starting background with the Association.

Job Ranks and Involvement
As expected, the participation in available jobs is up to the adventurer, and they're expected to perform the required number of job threads to earn a regular income, just like any other. Of course, there are several different ranks that adventurers can be classified within, and as such, certain jobs will also have their classifications based upon the risks and difficulties involved. It is also encouraged that adventurers often team up and party together, so that the successful conclusion of a job will see the group return with minimal injuries from the hazards of such risks.

Rankings
The Association utilizes a classification system that establishes ranks for both jobs and adventurers. This system has been utilized in the past to determine what jobs adventurers can do, as a means of preventing lower-ranked adventurers from taking on high-risk jobs too early in their careers. The Rank system is laid out as the following below:

  • Leviathan - (S) Legendary Rank
  • Kirin - (A) Master Rank
  • Roc - (B) Expert Rank
  • Lion - (C) Journeyman Rank
  • Wolf - (D) Apprenctice Rank
  • Kobold - (E) Greenhorn Rank

Ranks

Upon joining the Association, members begin at the lowest tier of the rank system. Through successful completion of jobs, their time and work accumulate benefits for the adventurers who continue their work. Upon completing a certain number of jobs, an Adventure can then appeal for a promotion to their membership rank.

These promotions expand on the availability of jobs limited from their previous tier, enabling them to take on even more difficult tasks worthy of their rank. They also gain benefits with their memberships, making the rewards for successful jobs worth the riskier endeavors.

Kobold
Starting as the first rank of the Association, Kobolds are relatively fresh and new to the field of jobs that are available to them. They begin with straightforward tasks that the Association deems well within their comfort zone, prioritizing safe and simple jobs that cater to up-and-coming new adventurers looking to specialize in a job profession. After completing a total of five jobs, a Kobold can request to have their rank reassessed by a representative of the Association, earning a promotion if they're qualified for the next rank.

Wolf
A Wolf is the second rank an adventurer of the Association can reach, demonstrating a small sense of familiarity with their role in the field of jobs available to them. They're provided a broader range of jobs that cater to any particular traits or talents they have demonstrated, and even given bonus opportunities for the completion of jobs that are well done. After completing a total of ten jobs, a Wolf can request to have their rank reassessed to determine if they qualify for another promotion.

Lion
A Lion is the third rank an adventurer of the Association can reach, possessing an avid understanding of the job field and their preferred profession within the Association. Adventurers are competently experienced at this stage of their career, and as a result, they're able to confidently navigate the plethora of jobs that are openly available to them. Lion-ranked individuals will find that jobs they take on will test the skills of whatever their given profession is, but also come with potential bonus rewards based on performance reviews related to a completed job. After completing a total of fifteen jobs, a Lion can request to have their rank reassessed to determine if they qualify for another promotion.

Roc
The Roc is the fourth rank an adventurer can reach within the Association, demonstrating a rising expertise in their field of profession. Adventurers of this rank are assured that the Association will cater to their job preferences specifically, sorting out particular opportunities that not only challenge but reward the adventurer well. Every completion of a job comes with not just a bonus, but a chance of requisition on behalf of the Association as well, to provide the adventurer with an extra tool or accessory as a reward. After completing a total of twenty jobs, a Roc can request to have their rank reassessed to determine if they qualify for another promotion.

Kirin
Kirin is the fifth, and final, rank that adventurers can reach within the Association, proving themselves as contributory advocates among the other ranks. They are seasoned experts when it comes to navigating the job field, and as such, they can take on the riskier jobs that the Association has set aside for them, earning themselves even bigger and more specialized payouts for their hard work. Completion of such jobs will often see the Association reward a Kirin with not just a sizeable bonus, but also a commissioned tool or accessory that will help serve in their preferred profession.

Leviathan
Although Kirin is typically the fifth and final rank most adventurers can reach, some circumstances can dictate when the Association may elect a final promotion for its members. Typically, after the completion of twenty-five jobs within a Kirin's career, a representative of the Association can petition for a final reassessment of a member, and provide an opportunity in the form of a specialized job for the individual in question.

Unlike the jobs a Kirin-ranked adventurer may take on, this one in particular is befitting of a higher rank in difficulty, likely posing even greater risk or requiring more time and resources to see the job itself completed. Yet upon completion, the elected member is given the review they need by officials of the Association, and upon approval, they are given a promotion into what is the highest rank a member can ever hope to achieve. They're allowed a plethora of jobs they can choose from, as well as provided access to jobs only available by their rank, with greater benefits and bonuses in store for their unending hard work.
