Name: Ci'uvan
Habitat: Lake Ounokt, Ecith; Drathera, Ecith; Other high perching areas with access to bodies of water in Ecith.
Rarity: Common in Ecith. Extremely rare outside of Ecith.
Threat: Mild
Description: The Ci'uvan is a large, reptilian seeming flighted creature. They come in a wide variety of bright colors, have long beaks with teeth designed to hook onto flesh and pick it up, largely used for catching fish. They have small claws on their wings, and bigger back claws on their legs. They are mostly seen flying, which is their preferred method of travel, but can both crawl and climb well enough.
Biome Role: Predator, largely upon aquatic life, both fresh and saltwater. Will consume other creatures if the opportunity presents itself.
Diet: Carnivore, mostly fish.
Aging & Reproduction: The Ci'uvan are long lived, and will continue to grow their entire life. They reach adult maturity at around 18-20 years of age, and elders of the species live to be 100-150 years old. They reproduce sexually, which results in the production of an egg. A healthy female can produce 2-4 eggs every two years.
Size: Adult males and females are the same size, standing about 6ft tall at early maturity, but grow larger every year. Their wingspan is typically twice their height. At adulthood, they are typically large enough to carry adult riders.
Abilities and Features: Fast and adaptable fliers. They can fly long distances, and are both fast and strong enough to fly in the harshest of winds. They have been noted flying into hurricanes to hunt for fish picked up by the winds and coming out unscathed.
Cultural Significance (If applicable): They are a mount used by the people of Ecith. The villagers of Ounokt Nora were the first to develop a symbiotic partnership with the species, but this has now spread to many parts of the Ecithian Commonwealth. While not exclusive to the military, most of the Ci'uvan riders are in the military, and thus called Dragoons.
