Searing 35, Year 124

[Closed - Chronicle]

Since their earlier foray into the Mines to help rescue the miners from the Gravebound horde, Hilana and Athalia had been visiting Kalzasi every week or so to check in on Rickter and his family, and make sure that they were doing well despite the circumstances, and to assess Rickter's condition as he slept. She did often at least prepare a large chunk of meat for the sleeping Draegir, if only to make sure that he was getting some sort of sustenance while he was otherwise sleeping. She wasn't too worried now - this condition reminded her of what happened with some reptiles - brumation. Their bodies slowed down, and that meant that their nutritional requirements slowed down, too.

It was a little more advanced than mere hibernation, but it was how many reptiles could manage some of the harsher seasons and continue to thrive. The Lord of Frost seemed to be doing the same.

They had arrived in Kalzasi in the early afternoon, and while they would check in at the House of Waves later, the sisters had decided to make another stop. This one was to be educational in nature, with luck, assuming Lord Ryom was in and available. When they had been in the Mines, he had mentioned that there had been a Calamity that revealed itself underneath the city. That had certainly made Hilana curious, but rescuing trapped miners had taken precedence over a more in-depth history lesson on the foreign city. If they were going to visit here regularly, and it seemed like they might, at least until Rickter was back to being himself... and even when he was, they still wanted to visit - it was good for Athalia to get lessons from a Grandmaster, beyond what she was managing with their father's books and other books available for them to purchase in Solunarium.

In any event, they had gotten directions from Telion when they were there last week about how to get to the College of Glass. There was bound to be a fascinating story behind this, and she had heard some about the Warrens before from Talon and Aoren. She was absolutely determined to visit the Second Deep, at the very least, to investigate the plants and creatures there once she had Attuned to the element of Wood. Lia was not thrilled about that prospect, but perhaps they could learn more about the place today, and if Hilana was so determined to go, then it was best that they knew what they were getting into. Even if they had the Mask to hopefully make the trip relatively quick to get in and out, and decidedly less risky.

The sisters Chenzira walked the pathway until they got to the doors, and stepped inside to approach the receptionist at the front desk, her rucksack over her shoulders with her two pythons hanging out. Her featherlight satchel rested over her shoulder, on a curvy hip. Tiaz was draped around her shoulders, the beefy grey, black, and white constrictor relaxed and calm, and if it wasn't for the occasional flicker of his tongue, he might have simply seemed like an accessory. Her other python, Fiya, was draped over top of Tiaz, and the upper half of her was resting around Hilana's bun. She was more of a silvery colour, and if it hadn't been for the darker skin of the sisters, she might have looked like she had a strange limb up there. "Good afternoon to you. My name is Hilana Chenzira. I was wondering if Lord Ryom is available?"

Their attire clearly marked them as strangers, even if the snakes and the accent didn't - while Hilana's Common was much more neutral than her sister's, it was certainly not Kalzasern. Athalia's was stronger, though fairly close to her younger sister's. With the balmy summer weather, Lia had put on a light blue sari that had white designs painted onto it to resemble clouds. They weren't going anywhere aside from the College and the House of Waves, after all, and since sari were perfectly acceptable up here, she was going to enjoy it. Hilana, though, wore one of her shorter blouses that showed off her arms and midriff and incredibly colourful skirts. Today's was dyed in a rainbow of bright colours, each tier brighter than the last.
