Appearance
Standing with a lean musculature that is built more for dexterity than for brute force, Zayn is fairly typical when it comes to most Nyxori. Dark violet skin with equally dark violet eyes that have a hint of animalistic night-shine in the darkness. He has long black hair that usually kept in braids threaded with a handful of dragonshard beads. His right ear is pierced, as is common practice among his people, one of the piercings being a dragonshard stud. His face is rather expressive, his emotions easily readable at any given moment. He is usually clean shaven. He can typically be found wearing a combination of cloth and leathers, ready to face the harsh environment of the Nyxus outside the walls of Haven City.

History
The son of a Night's Watchman and an alchemist of the Harvesters, Zayn's parents provided for him the best they could. His father was a decently skilled watchman who spent the majority of his days defending the community from those that would have torn it down. He was a pivotal figure in fending off less savory gangs from overtaking their community. Zayn was born following the awakening of the Black Gate and the appearance of the Emanations of Terror. His mother was in active labor during the experience and gave birth to him in complete silence, enduring labor pains and the rigors of childbirth while clinging to her husband as the both of them avoided notice by the Emanations. It was apparent from a young age that Zayn was mute. He possessed underdeveloped vocal cords and rather than attempt to augment his condition through necromancy, his parents opted to teach him how to live with it, viewing his silence as a blessing from the Darkfather.
As reasonably educated individuals themselves, they taught him to read, write, and found a teacher to instruct him in the ways of sign language. When he was old enough, his mother bestowed upon him the Rune of Semblance, viewing it as a tool that would help him further his communication skills. His father taught him survival skills, often taking him on hunts and teaching him how to navigate the streets of Haven and the wastes outside the city walls. Theirs was not a life of leisure but it was a happy one.
The Eclipse came.
Across Haven, the Lamps went dark. The Black Gate awoke. But what came were not the Emanations that had become an expectation of Haven's life. What came was living darkness. No part of Haven was spared. Some parts faired better than others. The community where Zayn grew up? Did not.
In the Darkness, Zayn lost his family. In the Darkness, Zayn cried in silence. And in the Darkness, He came.
To this day, Zayn does not know whether it was the Darkfather Himself or if it were one of the Apostles. When he was lost and alone in the unending blackness however, that was when he saw a shadow that was darker than dark. When the living shadows sought to consume him, that deeper darkness protected him…and marked him. In the aftermath, Zayn began hearing of others who had received the Dark Mark, who were wielding shadows in ways that none had ever done so before. The Lampless Night was ended, the Black Gate was closed.
Zayn never found any trace of his family. His mother and father were taken by the living shadow and the mutants that had wandered in from the wastes.
