Of Blood & Steel ⓵

ϟ Standing among the many participants, he silently contemplated how things would go, remembering the words spoken by his Domina earlier that day.
To him, it was just another test, training if you will, honing and sharpening his martial skill the best way he knew how. Where many came to seek fame and fortune in the eyes of mundane men, Barakael sought greater heights, knowing he couldn't always rely on his magic to save him all the time. Only a foolish soul believed that.
Barakael knew better, he had to, as he was always cautious of how he used it. Looking around, he began to size up the competition, only to notice the discerning eyes of others were doing the same to him. He couldnt blame them, wanting to take him out first. He was a big target and was trained for this very moment. It somewhat excited him that many saw him as a threat.
Soon, the announcer came within view, calling for their attention. "Greetings, all participants, we appreciate your patience, as now comes the time for the games to begin. As most of you know, the Rookie Circuit is comprised of nine matches to weed out the weak from the strong. For today's bouts, the first to reach three wins will move on to the next tier of the rookie circuit. May the founders show you favor."
With that, the mass of participants was divided into evenly sized groups and waited for their turn to fight. Finding a spot where he could see all comings and goings, he waited, patient for the battles to come. In that time, he meditated, using the solitude to center himself. He focused on calming the fire within, tempering it so that it could fuel his drive for victory. He also communed with the element itself, hearing the robust and vibrant voice, feeling its warmth as it whispered to him, encouraging him.

A devious smirk crept onto his face as he readied himself for his match. He knew in the deepest parts of his soul he was worthy."It's imperative that you clear these preliminary bouts as quickly as possible. Crush your opponents outright. Save the flash and flare for the semifinals and beyond. This beginning part is to weed out the weak, so that only the worthy move on to the next circuit.
